Adelson's Folly, Making more sense

Sheldon Adelson

Scribe:  Lucy Osbourne

The Las Vegas Review-Journal raised eyebrows late last year after it sold for an unprecedented $140 million, who even the writers at the paper could not identify.  The purchase was made with a newly corporate News + Media Capital Group, and no one knew anything about who would run such a company.

The purchase price was an astounding amount for a paper that distributes 98,000 copies daily and 119,000 on Sunday.  But early thought pointed to Sheldon Adelson, Steve Wynn or Tony Hsieh who founded Zappos.com.  It proved to be Adelson who is heavily connected in the casino business.

When employees asked, who owned the paper, a spokesman for News + Media, Michael Schroeder responded, “They want you to focus on your jobs. Don’t worry who they are.”

President Barack Obama releases his Workout Playlist

Nina Simone

On my workout playlist is Parliament Funkadelic and George Clinton’s “The Mothership Connection” -- Live from the Summit in Houston, Texas.  This amalgamation of talent yielded more than 40 hit singles and three platinum albums.  And I love the groove.  Some people say you can learn a lot about a person if you had their workout playlist.  Now, mind you, my playlist changes approximately every two to three weeks.

The President of the United States recently guest edited a publication and released his current workout playlist.  I don’t know what you’ll learn about POTUS with this information, but here it is.

Duterte, Roberto

The Philippines and the United States have had a relationship for the past century through colonization and independence.    China would like to have a partnership with the Philippines and pry out the U.S. military presence in the Country.

The U.S. currently has access to five military bases in the Philippines but a few months ago President Rodrigo Duterte a newly elected president directed President Barack Obama to “go to hell.”   The president of the small Asian nation has recently talked negatively about Washington and positively about creating an alliance with China who has been vying for their attention.

Viral video of a cop manhandling a black man in Edina, Minnesota being arrested for walking in the street, while the sidewalk was under construction.

Larnie Thomas was videoed by a woman who identified herself as Janet Rowels – you can hear her in the background while being admonished by the officer and asked to get back.  The man was walking  along Xerxes Avenue, in a residential area of Edina, the section has houses on either side and a standard 30 mph speed limit.

Thomas appears to be walking along the roadway on the outside of the white line when officer Tim Olson, of Edina, Minnesota was accosted by the officer.   The video shows the officer pull Thomas back into the roadway and an irate Thomas saying, “I’m on the damn white line! You can’t just put your hands on me like that!”

Michelle Obama -- Manhchester, New Hampshire -- Speech of the Year

Michelle Obama

In Manchester, New Hampshire, Michelle Obama drove a nail in the coffin of Donald Trump’s presidential bid.  The pro-her talk was ridiculously powerful and moving and based in the heart of American morality and justice.

Is she was selling refrigerators in Antarctica – today the first lady would have sold out.

I am not a Hillary Clinton fan, but today’s speech painted her in such a positive light that I almost forgot about William and Hillary’s charge at impoverished American with the so called War on Drugs.  She said, “WE BELIEVE THAT IF YOU WORK HARD, YOU SHOULD NOT GO BANKRUPT BECAUSE SOMEBODY GETS SICK. YOU SHOULD NOT LOSE YOUR HOME BECAUSE SOMEONE LOSES A JOB AND AFTER A LIFETIME OF HARD WORK, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO RETIRE WITH DIGNITY AND SECURITY.

Presidential Campaign JeJune at Best

Clinton Vs. Trump

Scribe:  N. Tru Bass

Email:  ntb@thethinkering.com

The republican party is officially carven now that presidential nominee Donald Trumps has been outed for his elementary approach to the opposite sex and blatant disrespect for women.

Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan stepped away from the presidential race to focus his attention on the potential law makers’ races around the nation.  In response Trump said of Ryan, that he is an ineffective leader [sic].

Other republican conservative lawmakers pushed to back Trump in his run against Hillary Clinton.

Last week a video recording of Trump surfaced while talking with TV personality Billy Bush – Yes, of those Bushes.   He bragged about not being able to bed Nancy O’Dell a former colleague of Bush, and boasted when you are a star you can do anything including grabbing a woman’s pu**Y.
