Significance of Michael Bennett's Arrest--Police Reform

Significance of Michael Bennett's Arrest

Op/Ed

Michael Bennett was stopped and arrested by the Las Vegas police on 26 August 2017.  He was thrown on his face and roughed up after attending “The Money Fight.”

Here is what’s interesting, Bennett was one of the first professional athletes to step out and support the efforts of Colin Kaepernick to bring attention to armed police officers killing unarmed African Americans without redress.

Every justice loving American cringed in 1992, when Rodney King is beaten and the crime was caught luckily on video tape.  The same group, especially Black folk, were gut sickened when the verdict was read and the officers were found not responsible for their actions.

Just six days before the top of the 2017-2018 professional football season and out of 32 team’s no one picked up socially conscious quarterback Colin Kaepernick.   I won’t name names but that includes Seven teams who could use a time tested versatile man in the pocket.

Kaepernick was the San Francisco QB who decided to sit or kneel during the national anthem in protest to the police killing of unarmed African Americans.

Late King Abdullah single handedly held Gasoline prices down -- Against the will of Western Oil Companies

King Abdullah

Scribe:  N. Tru Bass

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia held oil prices at bay during this life by not imposing a pumping ceiling on oil.  He continued to pump despite his western counterparts insisting that he slow his oil ingestion to insure a price hike for gasoline buyers in the United States and worldwide.

In early 2015, King Abdullah died and the kingdom continued to support his efforts during his life to the dismay of western oil companies.  However, a natural disaster, hurricane Harvey, the excuse to raise prices finally arrives, a full two years eight months later.

Funding for the Wall Found

Wall

Op/Ed

The Berlin wall was sometimes called the wall of shame; it was 87 miles of barrio that stood until 1989.  It separated East Berlin and West Berlin represented the reunification of Europe when the wall fell.

Communist East Berlin was separated from Democratic West Berlin and the end of the wall ended the cold war.  The wall was 11.8 feet high and separated two nation states--separating brothers and sisters, mothers and daughters just as the proposed wall on the Southern Border of the United States would.

As post hurricane waters continue to rise a chemical company is warning of an explosion.   The France based company says because of the heavy rainfall the company was forced to shut off power and the backup generators flooded ultimately causing chemicals that should be refrigerated to explode or burn.

The plant is located approximately 20 miles from the city of Houston and has been inundated with rain water recording from than 40 inches.  The plat manufactures organic peroxides commonly used in everyday products, like PVC piping, paints, polystyrene cups and plates.

On Thursday morning overnight one reporter claims to have seen a plume of black smoke over the plant.  Residents within 1.5 miles of the facility have been evacuated and the FAA closed air traffic near the site.  The owner of the plant sentiment is not if it will explode by when.

University of Tampa professor fired after insensitive social media post.   The University of Tampa reporting having to sever ties with a visiting sociology professor who refered to the Harvey aftermath is karma for the city.

Kenneth Storey said, “I dont believe in instant Karma but this kinda feels like it for Texas. Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesnt care about them.”  Racial and poitical tension has been front and center since November 16 when the sitting president was elected.

Harvey Confirm Global Warming?

Hurricane Harvey, Houston East SIde

Scribe:  N. Tru Bass

Email:  ntb@thethinkering.com

Is there a link between aggressive storms like Harvey and Global Warming?  The deadly storm reignited the conversation about global warming, a phenomenon the Whitehouse flatly denies.

As flooding continues to devastate the Houston and south Texas area rising temperatures are plaguing the world.  The City of Los Angeles is experimenting with painting surface streets a lighter color in the hopes it would aid in lowering the median temperature.

Scientists have stood by the ideology that while climate change increases frequency and severity of extreme weather, no single event could be attributed to it.
