Noble Energy says Falklands’ oil production in six years if exploration well proves successful

Susan Cunningham, senior vice president for exploration, said during a conference call that drilling began on an exploration well in the region late last month, the first that Noble has participated in there under the farm-in agreement it entered with Falkland Oil & Gas Ltd. (FOGL.LN) in August.
If that well results in an oil discovery, Ms. Cunningham said the first production could come by 2018 or early 2019.
Under its agreement, Noble has a 35% operating interest in most of FOGL licenses and agreed to spend 180 million to 230 million dollars on exploration over the next three years. Executives said on the conference call that the Falklands’ venture has the potential to be a “game-changer” for Noble, and that initial results from the well are expected by the end of the year.

Mother Sentenced to 99 Years In Prison

Dallas mother Elizabeth Escalona has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for beating her two-year-old daughter and gluing the toddler’s hands to a wall with superglue.

Police say Escalona attacked two-year-old Jocelyn Cedillo because of potty training problems. The 23-year-old pleaded guilty in July to felony injury to a child.

Police records show Escalona's other children told authorities she kicked Jocelyn in the stomach and hit her with a jug in September 2011. They said Escalona glued Jocelyn's hands to the wall with a type of strong adhesive known as super glue.

Jocelyn suffered bleeding in her brain, multiple bruises and was in a coma for a couple of days.

Escalona faced from probation to life in prison, with prosecutors seeking 45 years behind bars. A state district judge decided her sentence Friday.

The debate between Vice President Joe Biden and Republican challenger Paul Ryan

VP Debate

As vice presidential elections go, they are usually overlooked and almost never have any determining power for upcoming elections.  However, Thursday night’s debate between incumbent VP Jo Biden and Rep. Paul Ryan at times became a firecrackerish.

At absolute odds, parliamentary debate procedure didn’t play into this; what was slated to be a formal televised debate.

In my opinion this is more entertainment than news, however I have to cover it to stay competitive.  Hey, you check it yourself.

Irish Betting on Obama

With less than a month to go before America goes to the polls Paddy Power, Europe’s largest betting company, can report that close to 3 times more money has been staked on President Barack Obama than his election rival Mitt Romney.

The Irish betting house has seen only 25.5% of money staked on their next President betting line placed on Romney since he was formally named as the Republican candidate on August 30th while 74.5% of the dough has been placed on Obama in the same period.

Meanwhile, the former Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney, has seen his odds of winning the presidential race improve significantly from 9/2 to 2/1 since his powerful display in the first debate but still trails Barack Obama who remains the favourite to win the election at 4/11.
