Rockets vs. Bulls Christmas Day

The Thinkering Rockets

The Houston Rockets have become a competitive accretion team in just a few months.  Even in the absence of mentally embattled Royce White the Rockets have created a balanced squad of semi misfits.

Let’s start with last year’s super six man; James Hardin who has become a dependable scoring machine.  Hardin is averaging in the last 10 games nearly 40 minutes and just north of 28 points.

Secondly, Jeremy Lin the Asian sensation that showed brilliance last winter with the Knicks until he was sidelined by a knee injury.  This season Lin’s numbers are more average than impressive but  there are a few intangibles like energy and hustle Lin brings to the table.  He is also the synergy guiding force the glue that cohesively holds the Rockets in place.

If there was such a thing as the Rockets big three, the last leg would be Chandler Parsons.  Parsons, holds steady with just fewer than 15 points per game and 6 and a half Rebounds.

Where is Royce White Now?

Royce White has publicly voiced his concerns over the lack of synergy with the Rockets because of a chronic case of fear of flying.  He is scheduled to return to the rockes afer a two month absence.

Details are sketchy at this point and we don't know in what capacity White will be training with the team, but this is obviously a very good development for the Rockets and White. If they can get White back in the gym, practicing with the team, this year won't necessarily be a lost for both parties.

It will be interesting to see if the arrangements between the Rockets and White change, as White has repeatedly been expressing his concern with a lack of protocol with regard to his situation.

Suzy Favor Hamilton Vegas Prostitute

Three-time Olympian runner Suzy Favor Hamilton has admitted leading a double life as an escort.

She apologized Thursday after a report by The Smoking Gun website said she had been working as a prostitute in Las Vegas.

The 44-year-old Favor Hamilton lives in Madison, Wis. The Smoking Gun said she has been working for the last year for an escort service.

Soon after the story appeared online, Hamilton released a series of tweets saying in part that she was "drawn to escorting in large part because it provided many coping mechanisms for me when I was going through a very challenging time with my marriage and my life."

A middle-distance runner, Favor Hamilton competed for the U.S. at the Olympics in 1992, 1996 and 2000 but did not win a medal. She won seven U.S. national titles.

Tim Tebow Seeks New Football Home

Tebow, who has clearly been frustrated with his role on the Jets this season, spoke of the team in the past tense on Wednesday. Having only played 70 offensive snaps with the teams this season, Tebow appeared at a loss as to why the Jets traded for him in the first place:

"Obviously, I'm a little disappointed ... All you can ask for, all you want is a chance -- a chance to go out and play the game you love and help this team win football games," he said. "That's all I wanted. I tried to make the most of every opportunity I had. I would've loved to have had more."

Jets head coach Rex Ryan had originally planned to use Tebow in a Wildcat package. However, he acknowledged on Wednesday, insisting that Tebow's trade was not forced on him by ownership, that things had not worked out as they had hoped:

"For some reason, it hasn't panned out to my expectations -- and maybe not Tim's, either," said Ryan.

Lakers, Three In a Row: Critics Not Sold

The seemingly premature dismissal of Mike Brown has not put an end to the new unrecognizable 2012 basketball Lakers.

Streaks are a part of basketball, and the Lakers just won three games in a row but still has not quieted the skeptics.

Tuesday night’s win against the Charlotte Bobcats was an expected win for the Lakers, but didn’t come easily.  The Lakers were down by 18 points in the second half and put on a pretty impressive 32-8 run to overcome the deficit and walk with the win.

Defense seems to be the western buzzword for the moment.  The Lakers are giving up more +101 points per game against teams with not so great offensive talents.

"The last three games our energy has been there," said Kobe Bryant, who led all scorers with 30 points. "We got six stops [at the start of the fourth quarter] and we got the [deficit] down by a big margin. We finally got our act together and started playing some defense."

Rockets Have The Knickerbockers Number

His old fans booed him. His old friend clobbered him.

Otherwise, it was Linsanity all over again at Madison Square Garden.

Jeremy Lin had 22 points and eight assists in his return to New York, leading the Houston Rockets to a 109-96 victory Monday night that ended the Knicks' 10-game home winning streak to open the season.

Cheered then jeered, and later floored by Tyson Chandler's flagrant foul, Lin added another masterpiece to the ones he put together last season during the height of his memorable run. No longer the fan favorite he was when wearing the home uniform, Lin got a mixed reception when he left the game with 2:25 remaining and the Rockets leading by 16.

"It was a lot of fun playing out there and I think our team, we took a step in the right direction," Lin said. "And for me, it was great to be back and it was a lot of fun to play on that court again."

Texans Battle For A Win Over The Colts

The Houston Texans now own the AFC South, and they have a message for the rest of the NFL:

Last week's debacle against New England was not the real Texans.

The real Texans, they claim, clinched the division for the second straight year with a 29-17 victory over Indianapolis.

"A lot of people were wondering how we were going to respond," Andre Johnson said. "I think a lot of people doubted us after what happened last week. We (felt) like we had to show people what we were really about."

They believe they did so against the Colts, a team that dominated the division for years before Houston's recent rise.

But Sunday's celebrations were more subdued than last year's. This time the Texans expected to win the division, and have much bigger goals ahead.

"It's awesome," J.J. Watt said. "But there's a lot more fun ahead, so I hope everybody is not celebrating too early."

Gasol Returning to The Lakers Lineup

It’s easy to say that the Lakers should be winning more basketball games than they have been, simply because of the presence of Kobe Bryant andDwight Howard on the floor together in the same lineup.

Turkish Airlines Featuring Sports Greats

Both spent their teenage years in foreign lands. Both superstar athletes have rivals who compel them to reach higher heights. Both hate to lose at, well, anything. This was evident when Bryant and Messi engaged in a game of “can you top this?” The contest didn’t take place on a field or court, but in the first-class cabin of an airplane — Turkish Airlines to be exact. The two appeared in a recent ad, in which they vie for the adulation of a young sports fan. The kid walks into the cabin and gasps after seeing Messi. He hands the soccer star a pen (for an autograph), but Bryant refused to be out-gunned for the kid’s attention and admiration. A battle of wills ensues, as each legend tries to one-up the other using ball tricks, card tricks and making balloon animals. In the end there could only be one winner, but we won’t tell you who it is. Watch Messi and Bryant duke it out in the video below
