Dubs 1 Win Away

Warriors

The Golden State Warriors faced a difficult and disappointing finals in 2016, pulling away from the Cleveland Cavaliers team 3-1 and then losing that advantage and losing the championship banner by a single game losing 3 straight.

One year later the Dubs are 3-0 in the Finals and 15-0 in the post season becoming the first team in NBA history to go Undefeated in the playoffs they are again defying the odds.  The west coast team could easily with a single game walk away from the playoffs 16-0, setting the league on its ear.

On Friday night in Cleveland the Warriors will attempt to set that record and celebrate a championship and revenge from last year’s defeat.

While the previous games in the 2017 Finals have been competitive, the final score rarely looks like it.

Odell Beckham wants a new contract.    Beckham has decided not to participate in organized team activities due to his reported desire for a new contract.  As reported by ESPN, he has been one of several Giants who have missed the voluntary offseason workouts over the past few weeks.  Beckham Jr does not have a financial bonus tied to attending the workouts this offseason but was expected to attend.

He told the NFL network last month that,” I love my team and am excited about the season."

Giants wide receiver coach Adam Henry said he is focusing on the players present when quizzed by reporters on Wednesday.  Henry continued, "I've never had a problem with him. When he's here, he's a breath of fresh air. That's it."

Beckham is scheduled to make $1.8 million this season under the terms of his rookie contract.

Just when the world became comfortable with the iceburgh crew offing the predators, the Nashville team roars back to make it a series.  Locking it even on Monday night 2-2, with a 4-1 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4.

Pekka Rinne of the Predators looked like robogoalie with 23 saves, just when people begin to wonder if Rinne still has it, he kick’s the door wide open with an amazing series of stops.   The predators lost the first two games in Pittsburgh as is now proving why they are competing for the Stanley Cup.

Cavaliers vs. Warriors Series of the Ages

Javale McGee

Last year’s 2015-2016 NBA Finals, it was clear starting Game 4 the Cleveland Cav’s.  On paper the Warriors and the Cavaliers were running dead heat, until they met in the finals last year.   After a disappointing loss for the Golden State Warriors, the team retooled and added the four time scoring king Kevin Durant to the lineup.

The Cav’s boasted a 51-31 regular season record with a winning percentage of .622, with Golden State walking away from the RS with 67 wins and 15 losses and still on paper both teams look great.  But, the Warriors are beginning to outpace the defending champions.

In both Game 1 and Game 2 of the 2017 Finals in early play the teams looked comparable, although as the game wears on the western team tends to systematically pull away.  Is it fatigue?

NBA Finals Game 1 Cav's 91 - Warriors 113

Cav's vs Warriors - Game 1 2017

It’s what we have waited all year for the NBA Finals with super teams the Cleveland Cavaliers or the East and the Golden State Warriors of the West.

In the east there is the man that’s considered one of the best to ever play the game in LeBron James and company and in the west the vilified, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry all of whom have won the coveted NBA MVP ring at least once.

Thursday night Game 1 start as a competitive affair with both teams being a bit tentative at the start.  At the end the Warriors tied the NBA record for consecutive postseason wins at 13 carving out a W for themselves with a 113-91 victory over the defending champions.

Golden state has weapons all over the court but last night it was a Curry, Durant party as they combined for 66 points, 18 assists and 14 rebounds.

Many people will say racism is at an all-time high and the country has never been more divided.   The ugly hand of white supremacy found its way to a man who is considered to be mutating into the best basketball player who have every played the game.  On Wednesday, a vandal painted a racial slur on the superstar’s gate at his LA mansion.

The home was empty at the time as the Cleveland star prepares for Game 1 of the 2017 NBA Finals, but he did take the time to speak about the incident.
