Azealia Banks has run into a little snag.  She missed a court date on Monday for an assault incident in 2015 that included nipple biting.  She did not show in court and the judge issued a bench warrant for her arrest.  Her attorney appeared on her behalf at the Manhattan Criminal Court and delivered the message “I can be back tomorrow if the court needs it."  The Gesture wasn’t enough to prevent the judge from issuing the warrant.

According to reports, her entertainment lawyer said that Banks confused the court dates thinking the hearing date was 8 March instead of 6 March.  In a separate statement she says she apologizes and will apologize in person to the Court for missing her scheduled hearing.  The entertainer has been in France as a part of Fashion week festivities.

American Circus Closing after nearly 150 years

Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey

Email:  ntb@thethinkering.com

A stalwart in American entertainment has come to an end as Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus is ending for good in May 2017.  Billed as the “Greatest Show on Earth” for 146 years, the company is pointing to low attendance and high operating cost among the reasons for the shutdown.

Animal rights activists are declaring victory for the animals who were reportedly subjected to maltreatment and abuse at the hands of their handlers and trainers.  The storied company won a $15.75 million judgement against activists in 2015, but suffered in the court of public opinion.  Last year the company disbanded the elephant corp which forced a drastic decline in attendance.

Circuses have long been a part of American society, offering rarely seen animals performing human like feats to entertain the transient crowds.
