Today we will offer a musical tribute to a new generation. This group hailing from San Franciso, California change dumped a pound of funk on the world with tunes like, Stand, Fresh, Small Talk and Riot Goin' On.
Sly and the Family Stone was formed 51 years ago and was active from 1966-1983, and instrumental in the genre's of funk, soul, rock and psychedelic music. The group was headed by multi-ionstrumentalist Sly Stone and included Freddie Stone Sly's brother on guitar, Rose Stone on Keys, Cynthia Robinson –trumpet, drummer Greg Errico, Sax amn Jerry Martini and heavy thumping Larry Grahm on Bass.
The band was one of the firt major groups with a racially and sexually integrated line up.
