West Houston McDonald's Robbed

 

HOUSTON—An armed man robbed a McDonald’s restaurant early Friday morning, forcing the store’s workers into a freezer, police in west Houston said.

According to the Houston Police Department, it was around 3:30 a.m. when the suspect went into the fast food eatery on Highway 6 at Piping Rock, just north of Westheimer.

UpSkirt Charges at UTMD Anderson Cancer Center

 

HOUSTON – An employee at the UTMD Anderson Cancer Center is accused of stalking women in the hospital parking garage and secretly photographing them under their skirts and dresses, according to University of Texas police.

Jevonne Gunn, 30, is charged with improper photography/ visual recording.

West Houston Robbery Suspect Apprehended

 

West Houston – An ATM attack and police chase in west Houston Ends with a man arrested.  The chase ended at Dairy Ashford and Whittington according to police.  Authorities say the suspect robbed a man at gunpoint at the Chase Bank ATM and drove away.

West Houston Police saw the suspect’s vehicle on Dairy Ashford and began pursuit.  The suspect then ran creating a chase that ended with the suspect crashing into the median.  No one was hurt in the incident.

(HOUSTON, Texas) - The Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation (HCSCC) has completed installation of a new, removable AstroTurf system for Reliant Stadium.
The new surface will enable Reliant Park to increase the level of event activity, thereby increasing revenue and economic impact through hosting numerous sporting and other events on a world-class playing field without sacrificing its existing natural grass surface.
Reliant Stadium features the NFL’s first, retractable-roof football and rodeo stadium with a portable natural grass playing surface.  The field is comprised of eight-foot square trays, which hold sections of grass that are pieced together for games.  These trays are removed after Texans games to be properly exposed to sunlight, water, and fertilization.

The first class for Houston Community College’s Building and Contracting Leadership Certificate Program will graduate Monday, October 29 at 6:00 p.m. in the HCC District Administration Building Auditorium at 3100 Main St. There will be a reception following the graduation ceremony.

Wife Held for Questioning After Shooting Husband

 

A southwest Houston woman confessed to shooting her husband in their home Wednesday, but claimed it was an accident, Houston police said.

 

Officers responded to an emergency call at 2:30 a.m. from Sonia Whitford, 47, who said her husband had been shot and killed at their home in the 6500 block of Jackwood Street.

 

When officers arrived, they found Troy Whitford, 43, dead in the living room with a gunshot wound to the head.  Police recovered a shotgun in the house.

"Upon arrival, they were met by the wife, who said that her husband was dead inside and shot inside, and we found him dead in the house," said Sgt. C.E. Elliot with HPD Homicide.

 

Detectives said the couple was drinking and the man was playing with his shotgun. Police said Sonia Whitford thought the shotgun was not loaded and pointed it at her husband's head, pulling the trigger.

 

Sonia Whitford was charged with manslaughter.

Man Killed In SW Houston After a Noise Complaint

 

A man was shot to death Sunday morning after complaining about upstairs noise at a late night party.  Benjamin David Becke, 30, died from a gunshot wound to the chest in the early morning hours at 2016 Dunlavy, according to police. 

Witnesses said that Becke was disturbed by upstairs noise and knocked on the door to complain he was then followed back downstairs by a party goer an argument ensued and Becke was shot once in the chest.  He was found dead at his front door according to HPD. 

The shooter was interviewed by police, no charges were yet filed.  The case will be heard by a Harris County grand jury to determine if charges will be filed.

HCC Central students win big at interior design competition

Houston Community College Central’s interior design students received nearly all of the student-design awards at the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Texas Gulf Coast Chapter’s 2012 Design Awards gala.

HCC’s interior design students took top honors in seven out of eight possible categories at the Oct. 13 gala, the most ever for the college, and one of the strongest showings by any college interior design program at an ASID event.
