A couple from New York state has been arrested after a recent arrest on the charges of fraud. The Syracuse University football squad was recruited to make a little boy’s battle with cancer a bit more palatable.

Jolene and Martin LaFrance or Port Byron, NY were charged with one felony count of scheme to defraud and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child. The couple was able to raise more than $3000. in donations. According to the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office, the LaFrance’s did indeed have a son who was 9 years old at the time had never been diagnosed as having cancer.

The couple set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the boys factious disease. Last year the Orange football squad hosted the LaFrances son CJ late last year, to make what was thought ot be his final last year.

He was said to have had Hodgkins lymphoma, while the family says the boy had undergone radiation treatment The Thinkering was unable to confirm if the boy was actually having treatment.
