Missy Elliot, gave a soul stirring speech on Thursday in NYC. She opened up about having an autoimmune disease, she said that it had gotten so bad that she could not even lift a pen.

The admission came at the 9th annual Essence magazin’s Black Women in Music event. This year it was held at New York City’s Highline Ballroom. She was introduced by her old friend Janet Jackson who she had special words for towards the end of the talk. Jakson introduced the musical mogul by saying, "Creativity is a beautiful thing," she continued, "And when creativity flows so freely from a musical genius, all we can do is express gratitude. I am so grateful for Missy's beautiful soul."

Elliot joking admitted Jackson calls her Jack.

Back in 2011, the rapper, 46, said that she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, she said of the disease, "I was on medication for a short while but have been off it for quite some time now," she continued in the statement. "I manage the condition through diet and exercise."

She said her recovery was due to the “grace of God.”
