What would MLK do today

I have been called upon, by the universe, to channel MLK (THE Reverend) and assume (in my limited, humble capacity) the daunting task of portending Reverend King’s nonviolent approach to the current misguided folks who have forgotten America’s past promises and duty to protect ALL Americans (not just the select few). Any attempt to prognosticate what lies ahead would fail unless we remember the past, be present in the here and now and anticipate whats to come.

Reverend King’s compelling words, nonviolent demonstrations, marches and voter registration drives, are, unfortunately, as apt today as they were yesterday. Reverend King’s, call to nonviolent activism, in the civil rights movement, successfully protested Federal and State discrimination; he is a real American hero to ALL Americans; certainly, the momentous decree, emancipation proclamation, had become, in his words a “…beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves…”. Today African Americans, joined by Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, Muslims, Jews, Gays, Lesbians, Transgender, Bi-sexual, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (800,000 DACA kids), Salvadorans, victims of sexual harassment, handicapped folks and people with pre-existing medical conditions continue to be subjected to discrimination (defacto and infacto); as always the people who discriminate do so in order to subjugate these folks, keep them in poverty, fail to provide safe housing, lack of funding for education, demoralize and paralyze our efforts to break the chains and bonds that enslave us. Reverend King is a true American Icon.

His speeches and marches drew cheering and sometimes somber crowds of thousands of humans that bonded together for FREEDOM and EQUALITY. As a child I heard the speeches and realized that Americans, as a nation, must always follow the path of goodness and righteousness. The Reverend’s iconic speech entitled, “I Have a Dream”, is well-known throughout the world. Americans must acknowledge that we still have a long road to travel: but we shall NOT relent, NOT rest though we are weary; we are NOT forsaken, but driven to make our movement all encompassing. So, King Trump has, through his clear and present danger positions, united the silent majority—all of us who are willing to give our time, energy, lives and souls to those in need.

We currently have a King in the People’s White House who is, by his own deeds and words, an avowed racist. He decries racism, as he discriminates in housing, in FEMA authorizations (don’t forget Puerto Rico and its devastating hurricanes) and clear personal financial gains. We shall overcome his misdeeds; however, we must continue the fight for freedom and equality wherever it is oppressed. We must protest and march when called upon; we must continue to educate our people, in the ways of nonviolence. We must establish a network of leaders from each State and each town and initiate or actively participate in voter registration drives. We must continue Reverend King’s work. If our people do not vote, then King Trump’s fringe, racist, misogynistic, AK 47 repeat assault gun toting, radical right wingers take control of our movement and we shall be defeated. We are too great in number to forget freedom and equality for which America stands. We are poised to win. Let’s do it together.

Register to vote! Then vote! This is your moment of empowerment. Check out your state’s voter registration laws (go to vote.gov for your info).

You read The Thinkering News, so you are imbued with truth as your sword and kindness in your heart; you are a THINKER and THINKERS’ KNOW that with purity of heart, you can channel the force of when we are called to action. If King Trump makes speeches, tweets, sends or voices a message (moves his fingers and lips) or postures about a position regarding a compelling issue THINKERS KNOW: What the king sayeth, is not what he doeth. King Trump changes his opinions and waivers when asked to confirm and then, on recap, performs a 180 and denies what he said, because he does not remember saying “those words” nor “taking that stance”, despite video and audio concurrence.

Readers, continue to send XXXL Pampers and XL Depends to the People’s White house, attention: Adult Day Care Center.
