E. coli, has stuck 15 states and federal officials reported an additional seven cases of the deadly illness. The US centers for Disease Control and Prevention said nationally the number had ascended to 24 with two of those suffering from a form of kidney failure.

All those affected began feeling sick between November 15 through December 12 of last year. Around the same time a Canadian outbreak occurred. Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and Washington state all have reported cases of the illness.

E coli has become a menace since the advent of Genetically modified foods. In order for the vegetable to accept the DNA change it needs a carrier to inject the change and allow it to reproduce. However, occasionally the E coli grows too fast causing an outbreak. Few news organizations will have you believe somehow the vegetable was exposed to feces material but that is not the case.
