For the first time in 34 years, Sacred Heart Academy is having major construction. The culmination of a capital campaign entitled, Ever Higher, the school is building a $5 million project, most of it has already been raised.

The project’s phase I starts next summer and according to President Sister Sheila O’Neil, “The new building will be the hub of the school and all the different entities will be represented there.” She said the new facility should make all key administrators more visible and accessible. The building is scheduled to be new student space and a social place between and before and after classes. The student body are currently gathering in the cafeteria and the library in the evening after the cafeteria closes.

The center will also have a living roof, or roof top green space that will allow plants and low-growing vegetation to grow on the roof.

The Schools was built in the 1950’s and later built up since then with a new main office, business office and other areas. Phase II a III will involve renovating the cafeteria and new student commons out front of the gymnasium.
