Movies are made of stories of the protagonist fighting an uphill battle. He gets defeated and realizes there is more to know, and along his journey he meets a wise man who offers advice that would provide the single additional element that would put us in Victory Lane.

The country that birthed Muhammad Ali, a man who against all odds took on the entire United States Government, a government that took everything from this man who was never made whole again. Yet, he persevered and in most parts of the world become an icon of strength and courage and silenced his naysayers.

The Muhammad Ali’s of the word are not celebrated because they are Muhammad Ali, but because they allow us access to the Muhammad Ali in us. While Michael Jordan would likely argue that people genuinely love him for him but I beg the differ. Young players love to see athletic exploits because they have gifts and talent that they are trying to tap into and to see it in someone else simply starts the internal fire that is required to see what was previously unseeable.

While Donald Trump might not be impressive intellectually or oratorically, despite boasting an Ivy League education. His mass communication acumen becomes obvious when in comes to diluting the message that he doesn't’t want heard, while magnifying his own.

Now don't get me wrong Colin Kaepernick is a bonefide hero. One of my favorite quotes came in letter from the former Super Bowl quarterback, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color.” These words are clearly the words of a hero.

In James Barlow’s book,From the Corner to the Corner Office: A Blueprint for Success “White supremacy is the societal excrement that fertilizes racial disparities in America. It distorts the reality of historical and present day factors that create the staggering racial inequality that exists today.”

I earlier complained about the general public not properly supporting the small group of athletes who are defying the odds and making an attempt to be the tail that wags the dog. But, I did not say, support is not totally missing.

Is Putin's America one of dysfunction?

The moral public’s presence shows itself in the most important way – financially. The moral public refuses to watch the NFL in the same numbers as before. One item to be noted is the protest brought out the very important message that NFL owners supported Donald Trump for president by making sizable contributions. We all thought the owners understood that its important to have a moral grounding and despite Trump’s “grab em by the p*ssy[sic] comment support still stood strong.

I won’t get into every slight, but the statement from Jerry Jones likely single most powerful owner in the League makes him stand accused. A reported stupid statement from Robert McNair saying, “We can’t have inmates running the prison.” Which suggested either this guy is out of touch or he feels he can say whatever he wants. Not to mention, fans expect owners to treat talented employees in a civil way.

Now, back to the moral public’s support. Papa John’s, yes the pizza store said on Tuesday, CEO John Schnatter said during a conference call, he pointed the finger at NFL leadership for not nipping the protest in the bud a year and a half ago. But he is now blaming sluggish pizza sales on the NFL, when in fact the is the moral public would rather not shop at a pizza store who supports anti social rhetoric. The same slippage that has sales shrinking for the NFL is the culprit in low sales and every company that affiliates itself with Neo Nazi speak.

I suggest the real hero in this story are the good people who refuse to support companies that disrespect their workers along with companies openly support the immoral minority in the United States of America.

As every accountant will tell you the truth is in the numbers.
