Car Break Ins cause Hamden Residents Concern

A series of car thefts have the southern community in Hamden up in arms. The area near the Southern Connecticut State University has collaborated with New Haven police to tighten security in and around the school.

Hamden neighborhood members have also complained about cars being entered over night with personal items stolen and belongings rifled through. The Pine Rock area of North Campus the thefts are happening when cars are found to be left open or when items are left in plain view. Items such as headphones, money and purses are being taken.

SCSU has decided to add surveillance cameras in high crime areas. The nature of the break ins suggest drug fiend looking for items the get a quick fix.
