Putin and Trump

Scribe: Samuel Otis

Top US intelligence official including FBI chief James Comey and James Clapper, national intelligence chief and ex-CIA director John Brennan all agree that Russia manipulated the 2016 presidential election. Sitting president Donald Trump continues to say its not true despite the evidence and conformation from intelligence tops.

Trump says the US intelligence heads are political hacks and incompetent while say that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin when he says he did not have any involvement in the election.

During a recent interview, Trump said, "Every time he [Putin] sees me he says I didn't do that, and I really believe that when he tells me that, he means it." The two country leaders appear to be chummy when seen together publicly. The most recent siting being the Asia Pacific summit where the two were said to have discussed the election issue. When asked by the media about Russian hacking he[Trump] continued, "I think he is very insulted by it, which is not a good thing for our country." As he repeatedly disparaged major figures in the US intelligence community.

James Clapper said of the international incident, "Putin is committed to undermining our system, our democracy and our whole process," he furthered, "To try to paint it in any other way is, I think, astounding and in fact poses a peril to this country."

The intelligence community believes Trump is being “played” while his Washington lapdogs continue to support the White houses shallow comments and behavior.

Robert Mueller is currently investigating the ties between Trump and Russia after being named special counsel to verify whether there was any collusion. In the past few weeks Trump former campaign manager Paul Manafort and campaign advisor George Papadopoulos were placed on house arrest on charges of money laundering and lying to the FBI about meetings with Russian operatives.
