Tru Robinson is a little girl seven years old who lives in a group home based in Dracut, MA.  Her mother accuses the staff of cutting Tru’s hair and telling her it would grow back straight.

Tru is o mixed heritage and had curly locks and her distraught mother Denise says she was “assaulted and Violated.”  Her hair flowed down to the middle of her back and she now sports a crew cut.  Denise Robinson said, “Tru was assaulted yesterday at school and anyone who knows me know that I never claim racism — But why was my daughter’s head shaved?”  She then continued in a social media post, “There are three other girls in her class, two white girls, one black, none of these girls got scaled. Why Tru??”

Tru lives in a behavioral school part time and the school says the haircut was necessary for hygienic reasons.  However, her mother insists her hair was clean and bug free.  The school responded, “The program employs a diverse staff that is attentive to the needs of all children. Decisions regarding grooming are based on a variety of factors, including hygiene.”

Robinson insists there was no reason for the cut a believes she should have at least received a telephone call prior to snipping her hair.

Because of privacy reasons the school could not comment further, CBS Boston originally carried the story.  Her mother inferred, “For them to do this, it’s very upsetting, not just to me but to her.”
