Wow, what a hurricane season.  Hurricane Maria, the third major storm to hit the Caribbean in the past month has left complete destruction.

The storm that has created the trifecta has weakened but still beat the breaks off the Dominican Republic with winds near 115 mph with driving rain and misery.  The storm is now a Category 3 and is expected to gather additional strength as it passes open water before beating up the Turks and Caicos Islands.  Both were also hit hard earlier this month by Hurricane Irma on its way to Florida.

Puerto Rico’s damage from Maria’s wrath is still being assessed.   The power grid on the island has been effectively deleted.   The citizenry has reverted back to 1900, with cell phone towers toppled and the electrical grid destroyed.

Emergency management on the island said, "The information we have received is not encouraging. It's a system that has destroyed everything it has had in its path."

Maria represents the first Category 4 storm to directly hit the island since 1932.  It’s expected to be years before the island is put back together again.
