Two local doctors have been arrested and charged with money laundering, narcotics distribution charges, and federal health care fraud. Dr. Bharat Patel,70, of Milford and Dr. Ramil Mansourov,47, of Darien have been apprehended as a part of a joint task force.

The investigation is headed by the DEA’s New Haven Tactical Diversion Squad which includes $50,000 in 2014. Additionally, Mansourov is accused of defrauding the state of Connecticut’s Medicaid program of more than $4 million by billing health care institution for home, office visits that never happened. He is being accused of bilking the state and dumping funds into a swiss bank account.

According to recent reports Patel owns three residences and spends six months a year in India, despite the fact that he is an American citizen. The feds are requesting forfeiture of the doctors homes and $16,521.25 seized from the elder doctors safe deposit box.

The motley duo could face up to fifty years in prison.
