The 44th president of the United States and his family have formerly purchased a Washington D.C. mansion.  The 8,200 Sq. ft. home located in the Kalorama section of the city was purchased by the former executive for a whopping $8.1 million.

According to reports the decision was made to stay while their younger daughter, Shasha, completes her high school at Sidwell Friends.

The Obama’s purchased the home after renting it since leaving the White house. The former first family left office on 20 January and moved into the home which belonged to Joe Lockhart at the time a former press secretary in the Clinton administration.

Built in 1928 the home features 8 bedrooms, his and her bathrooms and a tranquil garden and was said to be an easy decision to make after leaving Pennsylvania Ave.
