Former Embattled New Haven Police Chief Dean Esserman has agreed to join Quinnipiac University as a full time employee at the private university.  Esserman resigned from the New Haven Police Department on 2 September in agreement with Mayor Toni Harp.

News reports cite several incidents where the former Chief lost his cool publicly.  The most recent incident included a verbal attack on a waitress, in 2014 he received a slap on the wrist for again verbally assaulting an usher at a Yale University football game.   According to a local television report Esserman became irate when a Secret Service agent could not tell him his exact place in First Lady Michelle Obama’s motorcade when she visited the city.

The former Chief joined Quinnipiac on Monday, no salary has been released, as chief of New Haven his annual salary was $162,000.
