For canned tuna lovers everwhere, I have bad news.  Both Bumble Bee an Chicken of the Sea have released an official Recall.  While no one has reported becoming ill, potential problems exists when cans were improperly sterilized.

Bumble Bee Foods is pulling more than 30,000 cases while Chickek of the Sea are recalling 2,475 cases so far.

Canners are asking consumers to check the UPC code found on the top of the can.  Here is what you need to know.

Chicken of the Sea products include:

Chunk Light Tuna in Oil in 5-ounce cans with the UPC code of 0 4800000195 5, and the "best by" date of 2/10/19. The lot codes for those cans are 6OA3Z SCEES, 6OA3Z SCEES, 6OABZ SCEEB and 6OACZ SCEEB.

Chunk Light Tuna in Water in 5-ounce cans with the UPC code 0 4800000245 7, and several different "best by" dates.

Chicken of the Sea announced that consumers may return the product to the store where they purchased it for a full refund. Questions can be answered at the 24-hour recall information line at 1-866-600-2681.

Bumble Bee's recall affects only those UPC codes that start with the letter "T." After that, check these products and other identifying features:

02/22/2019, 02/23/2019, 02/25/2019).

Chunk Light Tuna in Oil (5-ounce with label UPC and this "best buy" date: 02/23/2019).

Chunk Light Tuna in Water (4-pack of five-ounce cans with UPC code of 8660000736 and "best buy" dates of 02/9/2019, 02/10/2019, 02/22/2019, 02/29/2019).

That company says consumers should throw away the recalled product. Those with questions about reimbursements or safety can call the company at 1-888-820-1947, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. any day, or go to www.bumblebee.com/recall-march-2016.
