The first experimental uterus transplant has been competed at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Weston, Florida in late February.  In less than one day on the waiting list a Texas woman got the call saying a match had been found.

Dr. Andreas Tzakis, the director of solid organ transplantation at the hospital said, “I really considered it an act of God.” And continued, “I was shocked.”  The 26-year-old transplantee is a Texan only releasing her first name, Lindsey.   On Monday she said, “I have prayed that God would allow me the opportunity to experience pregnancy, and here we are at the beginning of that journey,”

The surgery represents hope for women who are interested in having children but have been diagnosed with uterus issues preventing conception.
