On Monday night the Board of Education approved a $85.8 million budget for next year.  The budget stands nearly as Superintendent of Schools Jody Goeler penned it.   The life skills class for middle schoolers (Home economics) was left on the cutting room floor along with the preschool program at Church Hill School.

Goeler initially requested $86.1millon, but received less, board members are concerned belts will have to be tightened even further when the mayor and Legislative Council masticate it more.  The budget increase for 2014-2015 was .31 percent but on average the increase is about 2 percent.
