The Whitehouse has declared Flint, Michigan is in a state of emergency.  Flint suffered an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease that has killed 10 people to date.  Many believe the water from the polluted Flint River is the culprit.

The problems began when an unelected emergency manager appointed by Governor Rick Snyder changed the water supply from the city of Detroit to the Flint River to save money.  According to reports public health officials from the city to the State knew for well over a year of the problem but only announced the potential link to the public last week.

The city of Flint, Michigan is a majority African American city and many believe the lack of concern for majority african american cities played a part in the delayed announcement.
