Hoverboards have been in the news often lately over the number of fires and explosions that have been attributed to the popular devices.

The Department of Public Safety has prohibited the operation, charging and storing of hoverboards on the Quinnipiac University campus due to safety concerns. Connecticut Chief of Public Safety Edgar Rodriguez said, “This policy is intended to minimize the risk associated with hoverboards overheating, catching fire or exploding while they are being charged or operated.”
