Bishop Blake

Scribe: N. Tru Bass

The Church of God and Christ’s slip is showing as the presiding bishop of the six-million member church files a law suit against one of its pastors' Earl Carter.

Bishop Charles Blake, the head of the fifth largest church the US, says of his embattled pastor, ‘Mr. Carter’s misconduct is extreme, outrageous, and beyond all bounds of decency.’  Blake has filed the suit asking for $75000 and an order to stop Carter’s crusade against him according to recent reports.

Carter, 65, says the bishop has molested under-age boys during African missions.  He also said, the leader of the church held a relationship with a now deceased Harvard professor who was openly gay.  The pastor also said the bishop accepted kickbacks during the church’s annual convocations.

The fuse was lit with the pastor spoke to thousands of COGIC members and leaders at the 2014 Convocation in St. Louis, Missouri.  He said of homosexual people, “I wish – if you really want to be a woman – you should get the whole package,” he continued, “Meaning a woman’s monthly bleeding from your butt.”  It’s unknown if he was speaking directly to the bishop about his alleged sexual habits.   Bishop Blake later apologized for Carter’s statements.

Carter has been unapologetic in his assertions and says the bishop, “threw him under the bus,” after last year’s complaints about his convocation rant that seemed to evoke ire with the church leaders.
