Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy is asking state lawmakers to pass legislation that would disable the sale of firearms and explosives to anyone on the federal governments terrorist watch list.

The Governor wrote to the Speaker of the House, Minority Leader, Senate Majority Leader and Senate Minority Leader, citing statistics from the General Accountability office noting people on the national terrorist list tried to purchase guns and explosives, 1228 times and was successful 1119 times.

He later said closing the loophole in federal law is common sense for the state of Connecticut. Just days earlier he stood up in support of allowing Syrian refugees a refuge in the 5th state of the union.
