Aung San Suu Kyi: Heads a Changing Party In Burma

The political environment has changed in Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi, has been selected to head the main opposition party.  Its her old position, while the party itself is going through a significant change.  

894 delegates from around the country gathered to announce Kyi the former Nobel laureate the Chairwoman of the National League for Democracy.   

"We have to see how effectively and efficiently the new leaders can perform their duties," said Aung San Suu Kyi, who has led the NLD since its inception in 1988. "We hope they will learn through experience."

In the meeting Kyi spoke about the importance of including ethnic minorities and women on the board in a democratic process.
