Cory Booker

Cory Booker needs an “S” on his chest; another life saved by the heroic mayor of Newark, NJ.  The 43-year-old mayor whose heroic tales have won him national acclaim rescued a shivering dog for the cold on Thursday.

An ABC reporter sent out a tweet after seeing the dog, shivering and freezing in the recent low temperatures in NJ.  After reading the tweet the mayor jumped into action.

The mayor arrived shortly after reading the tweet; on the scene and picked up the dog in his arms as news cameras rolled, capturing the whole scene.

'This is brutal weather, this dog is shaking really bad and you just can't leave your dogs out here on a day like this and go away and expect them to be OK,'

Booker told the news crew. 'Hypothermia on any animal including a human animal will set in pretty quickly. So this is very sad, you can just feel the dog shaking pretty badly.'

Booker loaded the dog into a police cruiser and tracked down the owner's cell phone number.

The owner, Moises Rodriguez, was in Queens when he got a call from Booker about his dog, Cha Cha, who had just birthed a litter of puppies.

He said he had no idea the dog had gotten outside and that she must have run out when he was packing up his car before going to Queens.

Cory Booker is the kind of mayor every American city needs.  Truth, Justice and the American way.
