While being expensive, American healthcare obviously has something on the best Mexico has to offer.  The pregnant daughter of Mexico’s most famous and elusive drug lord has been caught trying to use false papers to sneak into the U.S. and give birth, according to authorities.

She was arrested recently at the San Ysidro crossing south of San Diago, the nation’s busiest. Daughter of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the Sinaloa cartel chieftain wanted by both Mexican and U.S. authorities has requested entry.

Alejandrina Guzman Salazar, 31, attempted to enter the U.S. on foot and reportedly told officials she was seven months pregnant.  The official complaint against her stated, “Defendant stated that her intent was to enter into the United States and travel to Los Angeles, California in order to give birth to her child.”  She is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday before a federal judge on charges of fraud.

Guzman Salazar is scheduled for a bail hearing on 25 October, 2012.  She is represented by Jan Ronis, a prominent San Diego attorney who previously represented Benjamin Arellano Felix, who himself is a top shelf Mexican drug lord.

The Thinkering will keep you apprised of the outcome of this case.
